November 27-December1

Happy Monday!

English Language Arts: The spelling words this week are focused on 3-letter blends: shr-, scr-, str-, spr-, spl-, thr- (ex: shred, script, strap, sprawl, splash, thrill etc.). You can find your child’s words on my website, under the correct color. We are also talking about how to find the main idea and key details in a story. We are also writing cause and effect paragraphs this week.

There will be a vocabulary quiz on Friday. Students can access the words online at connected.mcgraw-hill.com and login using their firstnamelastinitial4b as their username and password.

Math: We are continuing to review factors and multiples in preparation for our quick quiz on Wednesday. (Ex: factors: numbers that can be multiplied to make up that number 12 = 1×12, 2×6, 3×4 and multiples: skip counting 4: 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32 etc.) We will also start reviewing multiplication and working our way towards 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication. (Ex: 32 x 47)

Quick Quiz: Factors and multiples

Religion: We are learning the Liturgical Seasons of the church in order and what color is associated with each, and we will be creating a Jesse Tree in class. Students will be given a template to create a specific ornament for our tree later this week, that is to be returned next Monday. We are also starting our Random Acts of Christmas Kindness (RACK) challenge, where students will be given a calendar of deeds of kindness that they can do for the month of December. We are hoping to spread a little holiday cheer and spirit!

History: We are beginning Unit 2 which focuses on the first Native Peoples of WA. We are starting by talking about archaeologists and how they study artifacts.

Science: Students are continuing to work in their Botany unit.
