English Language Arts: The spelling words this week are verbs with the endings –ing and -ed (ex: tapped, tapping etc.). You can find your child’s words on my website, under the correct color. There will be the usual 8 word quick vocabulary quiz. Students can access the words to practice throughout the week on the ConnectEd website. We will also be finishing up writing our persuasive letters, and are working on our Winter Trimester Newscast and our March Madness Book Tournament.
Math: This week we will be using protractors to measure angles, as well as reviewing vocabulary words that are all about lines (line, ray, point, line segment, parallel lines, perpendicular lines, intersecting lines). It is the last trimester of the year, and so the student’s math homework has been bumped up a little more. Students will now have 10 review problems to complete each week in their homework notebooks.
Quick Quiz: drawing examples of our Lines Vocabulary words, and identifying parallel and perpendicular lines in a shape.
Religion: We are talking about Reconciliation this week as we will be going this Friday morning. We are also starting to talk about the Corporal Works of Mercy, or physical ways we can show mercy to others (clothe the naked, feed the hungry, give drink to the thristy, heal the sick, bury the dead, visit the imprisoned, give shelter to the homeless).
History: We are going to be getting ready for our trip to the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) and have begun talking about our next Unit – Pioneers and Missionaries. Students had the chance today to play the old version of The Oregon Trail online, to give them a taste of the difficult journey pioneers went on.
Science: Students have a test tomorrow in their energy unit. All science folders were taken home this afternoon in order to study.

Thank you to everyone who is able to drive. We are sending emails to those parents that volunteered, but who are still in need of paperwork to be turned in. Please don’t delay if you receive one of those emails, because we need every seat we can get. Please remember this is NOT a free dress day, students are required to wear their uniforms. They also need to bring a sack lunch and weater appropriate jacket. We will be eating outside in an uncovered area, so please pray that we have nice weather! We will be leaving around 9am and will return to school about 1:30pm.
Thank you and have a great week,
Miss Taylor Stevenson
